One important thing that i look away from e-comm with technology is that i learned how to use so many different programs with e-comm. It was importent because that is how we made our videos.
I did find challenges along the way with learning new software. What i took away with collaboration is that everything you do ad think of is always better with other peoples options. It is important to collaborate because you get a wide range of opinion. I did find challenges on the way because working with some people can be difficult to work with. What i took away with communication is that you should always ask questions if you have any. this is important because if you don't ask questions then you cant widen your leaning. What i took away form project management is that you should never procrastinate like i am with this final. There were challenged with project mangament because if you don't get your stuff turned in the its late. What i took away form leadership is that you should away make sure tat in group projects everyone is doing something and not just one person doing all the work. Some of my strengths are working well with other people. what i'm going to do with what i've learned these past 4 years is im going to bring it to college with me.

KCS Reflection
Kansas City Savior
The strengths that i have as an e-Commnication student is that i can see how a project or assignment is going to play out and if its going to be as good as everyone thinks its going to be. I don't show it very much but i can be very creative when it comes down to accomplishing a project.
The area that i believe that I need more improvement in is being more involved with classroom projects. I honestly did not do anything to support or improve my areas that could use more improvements however i wish that i would have gotten more improved in this short film.
What i really enjoyed about the premiere on May 9th was that both hours came together and enjoyed one last big moment for all of us. What i enjoyed most about the feature film process is seeing people that usually wouldn't work together come together and make something that we will never forget making. What i would change about the premiere is making an intermission after the first feature film because a lot of people just used the little film in the middle as the intermission which resulted in them missing it. what I will take away form the making of making of this film is making sure i get more involved with the future projects that i am introduced to. As a senior i think what would be the best for the juniors, the up and coming senior, is to always work together and don't forget to try and incorporate everyones input. By listening to other peoples thoughts yo have no idea how that could potentially improve your film. For my final thoughts i would like to thank you Mrs. Smith for everything you have done for our class. After all you have been through i personally believe that you are the only e-Comm teacher that i have had that i can tell that genuinely cares about her students. Once again, Thank You.

Semester Final
Project 1: PSA
For our first project which was the PSA video we focused on the importance of ending racism. When doing and completing the project it did not take as long as we thought it would have to execute the project but as a group we did have a few bumps in the road when trying to figure out how to follow through with some ideas. Along with that said some of the challenges that were faced was trying to figure out how to get everyones silhouette in the frame without showing the lights and other shadows around the person. One of the main things that I learned along the way from completing this project is that every video that you try and accomplish is most of the time going to have to be an "all hands on deck" project. Some of the feed back that the group was given back as a whole was to raise some of the peoples voice because you cannot hear some people like you can others.I do not think we change anything. I personally think that our films and videos are quite good but there is and always room for improvements.
Project 2: Short Film
For our second project we did a short film about a little girl and an older sister that were living with an abusive mom and they then run away from her in hopes to find something else and become safe. the short film took a few days to shoot and then a few more days to edit so overall it took about a week and a half to complete. Some of the challenges that we as a group faced was making sure that we had the right props and the setting was okay to smash things on. What I learned along the way from making this short film was that sometimes you have to change some of your ideas in the moment and on scene. Some of the feed back that we were given at the end was to make all the shots continuous and smooth instead of choppy. We dint change anything once we were finished. I personally enjoy our short film.
Time in Class
The time that I use in class is productive when I have a project or an assignment that I could be working on. When I don't have an actual assignment for when I have completed everything I tend to watch movies on Netflix which I do then blog about them in the end.Personal
My areas of strength as a video person is that when given an assignment I use my time wisely and do everything I can to execute the project given to me. How. I maximize my strength is just getting my job done I the best way that I can. some of the areas that I need improvement in is staying on task because I am one to get distracted easily. what I do to improve that area is I set myself a goal and make sure I reach it by the time class is over. What I learned from our two guest speakers is all of the camera equipment. I did not go on the field trip.
Summary
what I loved most about this semester was meeting everyone in our class and becoming friends with people that I never thought I would. I would not change anything. One goal that I have for next semester is that I I would like to do more client work.

South Paw
For one of my menu items this week i watched a Netflix movie called South Paw. By watching this movie these past few days I saw that the movie as a variety of lighting. This is the kind of movie where the light does a really good job of setting the mood of the scene. The main character (Billy) is a world champion boxer who loses high wife to a gun and has to learn how to better himself for his daughter and his career.

Short Fim (Eva)
The script that we used for this short was put together by Skai and the concept of the script was to show a family in an abusive relationship all around. The olde sister kind of takes on the role of being the mom in the film while the actual mom is an alcoholic and does not act like the mom that she needs to be for her daughters.
Pre- Production consisted of finding out who our actors were going to be, writing the script then eventually changing it almost completely.
Story boarding was a very smooth process because we had Tanner to do that and he started it after had completely changed the script.
Scripting was a lot harder than it need to be because we had it written out and then we basically completely changed the whole thing.
My role in the process was art director and what i learned was that you have to make sure everything and everyone looks good and that they fit their part. I also have to make sure that the continuity was good and that nothing changed in the scene the whole time we were filming.
How we used the five guarantees are; Technical skills, working with the camera, lighting and sound. Communication, making sure everyone is on the same page with what is going on. Leadership, having that one person who is going to take ownership and lead the way for others. Collaboration, we all worked together in completing this project and i feel like it turned out nicely. Project management, it was good.
what i would do differently is i wouldn't have the mom be the one who doesn't care about her kids, i would personally think it would have been better if it were a male figure.
what i would do the same is have the film be in the same location because i feel like it set the scene well and the placement of the house had a good set up for this film.
The experience that i will draw from this for my next project would be not to wipe out the whole script because it will set you back a little bit,

PSA Video
i'm typing this blog post on my phone because my computer still does not have wifi on it.
https://youtu.be/6r6JwI0ceAc
While making this PSA i learned about how to put different pictures and videos together to make different sequences. one of my favorite things to did while editing this video was making the pictures go faster then making them stop when the videos played. this isn't my best video that i have edited but i am proud of myself because out of all 4 years of being in e-comm this is my first time ever using premier without any guidence or teaching.

Professional Article Review Post
How to Keep Your Short Film Small
The summary of the article is how to make a good short film, short, and still being able to keep your viewers attention. Good short films keep the scope small, but they must have emotionally resonant endings and boil down your characters, setting and story to only whats absolutely necessary.
The authors main argument is "The most philosophically invigorating or emotionally captivating shorts are the ones that are the shortest and the most subtle.
Since the authors argument is to keep the film basically "short and sweet", you always want to "leave your audience with something to chew on; even better, leave us with something more." The author also says "the most effective way to make your short memorable is to inject as much pathos as possible into the ending... if you do this, your audience will feel for your character right as "the ending" fades in."
While reading this article the authors strengths are giving good advice on what to do and how to make it easier on yourself, for example "make a list of everyone you may think will be able to help you out in any way possible- even if its something as small as donating a meal." also, "don't shoot your self in the foot and empty your bank account to get it done". Throughout the article i did not see any of his weaknesses with this article but there are probably some article out there that shows his weakness.
While reading this article, the authors general conclusion is to make sure you always have your readers attention because if you don't then they will lose their focus and drive to want to watch your short film.
I do believe that the authors argument does support the main points.
The authors evidence is convincing because he shows and talks about very good reasons why and why not do things that could make or break your short film.

End of the year final
Throughout the
course of this past year in graphic design, I have learned information about
new topics that I haven’t learned before. In Illustrator, Photoshop and
InDesign, most of the skills that I have learned, I learned it from using
illustrator help and Google. Mrs. Lofquist did sometimes teach us new
information but most of the time, we were told to use Google, Illustrator help,
YouTube tutorials and our peers around us. The project that I am personally
proud of the most is my magazine cover because it shows use of type face,
simplicity, and color.
How
I learned new information this year is by using Illustrator help, Google and my
peers around me. By using the resources that I listed, I do not believe that I
have learned everything that I was supposed to know to its full ability.
However, when Mrs. Lofquist did teach us new information it was as if we were
suppose to know it already and that she was “Going over and reviewing” what we
were suppose to already know by using Illustrator help, Google, YouTube
tutorials and our peers around us. Mrs. Lofquist was not doing her job by
teaching us the foundation of the programs that we have used for the past year
for our possible future careers as being graphic designers. Although, what I
did learn is how to make product packages that could be used and presented on
today products. The type of items that I have learned to make is business
cards, post cards, patterns, and how to make a template to make a package
design.
This
is important information to know because I feel as if I was not given all the
information that I was needed to become successful the future. With the
information that I received to complete the tasks that was assigned, I put in
all of my knowledge that I had, to fulfill the project that was given.
The
strengths that I have towards graphic design are being a collaborative
individual towards my peers around me, always trying to absorb more information
about the programs that we used and how to become a more efficient leader. By being in graphic design for a year, I have
noticed that my personal weaknesses have been project management and turning in
assignments on time. My attitude toward Mrs. Lofquist has not always been the
best and I admit it. However, the reason for my negative attitude is often because I get frustrated with the way
Mrs. Lofquist teaches and when I ask for help she sometimes answers my
questions and walks me through it, but most of the time she told me to use
illustrator help, Google, YouTube tutorials and our peers around us.
I
hope to use the information that I have learned this past year to help me with
my future classes in the E-Communication program in the future.
In
conclusion, I believe that I didn’t learned everything that was suppose to be
taught to me to its full potential but I did learn more coming out of graphic
design than I did coming into it. I believe that Mrs. Lofquist is a good person
but I don’t think her teaching technique is as effective as I would hoped it
would.

Individual Project
What I learned while doing this project is to prioritize the time that i have wisely. Even if you are doing 3 project at the same time at one point and you don't know how you're going to complete all of them when they are due, you have to do it anyway.

Magazine Cover
What I learned while making my magazine cover is that you have to be very creative when coming up with different topics that have to do with your magazine title. I would not do anything different if I had to do the assignment again in the future because I liked the way my cover turned out and the way it looks.
Poster
What I learned while having to create a movie poster for an assignment is to make sure you have an idea of what you want your poster to look like before you start to make it. I also learned that image tracing is not always the way to go. What I would do differently if I have to do the project again is that I would make the words more readable and not have the colors as dark.

My business card
I do not think that my card that was printed looked different than my card that was on illustrator. The only difference is that one card is bigger than the other.

Friday the 13th Dripping in Blood
Why wouldn't want to donate blood on Friday the 13th? People passing out from all of the blood loss. Olathe Northwest held their blood drive on November 13th where people from all over the community came together to donate. The main scope of this project was to capture how Olathe Northwest pulls off the blood drive, the process and the people that are apart of the whole idea. My goal of this project was to make a video that shows the true meaning of the blood donation and how the community gives to others. The process that I used was "get in and get out", that meaning, I went into the flex theater knowing what I had to get, shot it, and went back to the main entrance because there was just to many people to not know what you have to get.
What I learned along the way is that you need to go into the room, knowing what you need to shoot in order to accomplish whatever your assignment was. If you do not know what you are going to capture than you are basically just going to wonder around in circles because there is a lot of things going on. What I also learned is that if you have a partner than you and that person, need to figure out a set time for gathering footage because you might only have 10 min, to get all of the footage and your partner uses 6 min of that time, which means that you only have 4 min to get all of the footage that you need to complete the assignment.
What I would do differently is that i would story board everything out and know all of the boundaries of the room that you are going to. I did not plan out how long I would be capturing B-Roll and how much time i was going to use to get an interview. So therefore, i only got B-Roll and not and interview. I need to work on prioritizing the time that i have. What I would so the same next time is that i would know what i need to know what to get.
